Practice Management Course Coordinator (part time, parental leave cover)

Contribute to the professional development of the legal profession through the coordination and delivery of our practice management course.

Queensland Law Society (QLS) is the professional body for legal practitioners, representing more than 10,000 members state-wide. We lead the legal profession by advocating for good law and supporting good lawyers.  

You will be part of our Learning and Professional Development (L&PD) team, who are committed to maintaining their status as the preferred provider of learning and professional development to the Queensland legal profession.  Reporting to the Manager, Learning & Professional Development, you will be responsible the coordination of our Practice Management Course (PMC).  The course is run several times per year and is compulsory for any legal practitioner wishing to obtain a principal practising certificate.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • qualifications in business, management, law or education (highly desirable)
  • sound knowledge and experience in the application of adult learning principles to the design and delivery of learning and professional development programs, supported by an appropriate qualification such as a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
  • broad knowledge or experience in practice management of legal firms, or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge
  • demonstrated ability to foster positive, mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders
  • excellent skills in written and verbal communication, presentation and facilitation
  • well-developed planning, organisational and time management skills along with the capacity to prioritise and complete tasks within competing timeframes
  • demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others and to adopt work practices that contribute to knowledge sharing and knowledge management
  • be professionally presented and have a strong commitment to service excellence
  • competent in the use of modern office technology, including databases and MS Office applications.

This is a parental leave cover role, working part-time role three days per week (some Saturday work will be required). The role will commence early-mid July 2016 and conclude in approximately July 2017. Comprehensive training, coaching and mentoring will be provided in addition to ongoing support from the team.
