Specialist Accreditation Program Coordinator (parental leave cover)

Contribute to the professional development of the legal profession through the coordination, delivery and growth of our specialist accreditation program.

Queensland Law Society (QLS) is the professional body for legal practitioners, representing more than 10,000 members state-wide. We lead the legal profession by advocating for good law and supporting good lawyers.  

You will be part of our Learning and Professional Development team, who are committed to maintaining their status as the preferred provider of learning and professional development to the Queensland legal profession. 

Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Professional Development, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of our specialist accreditation program. The program provides experienced practitioners with an opportunity to achieve formal recognition at a peer reviewed standard of competence and knowledge in their chosen area of legal practice. This accreditation is recognised nationally and guides the community and the profession as to which practitioners are leaders in their area of expertise.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in law, business, administration or education (highly desirable)
  • Experience in a similar role coordinating the delivery of a professional/business service
  • Sound knowledge of, of the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, best practice in assessment processes and principles
  • High-level administration and organisation skills including project management, recording of meeting minutes, record keeping, time management, planning and coordinating business processes
  • High-level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to communicate appropriately with senior legal practitioners and members of the judiciary
  • Ability to develop positive, mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders
  • Ability to provide confident, professional, courteous and timely assistance and guidance to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise work without supervision, take initiative and demonstrate responsibility for decisions, while also working collaboratively in a team environment
  • High level of attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Competent in the use of modern office technology, including data entry and MS Office applications.
  • General understanding of, or experience in the legal profession (desirable).

This is a full-time parental leave cover role, expected to commence in late July 2016 and conclude in approximately August 2017. Comprehensive training and coaching will be provided in addition to ongoing support from the team.
