Queensland Law Society (QLS) is the leading professional body for legal practitioners, representing more than 10,000 members state-wide. Our aim is to be the profession's trusted advisor through providing quality advice, advocacy and learning and professional development for our members.

You will be part of our Learning and Professional Development team, who are committed to being the preferred provider of learning and professional development to the Queensland legal profession.

Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Professional Development, you will work closely with QLS stakeholders, committees and other subject matter experts to research, design and draft a range of learning and professional development programs including conferences, workshops and webinars. The role requires experience in the legal profession and well-honed stakeholder management skills.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • formal qualifications in law (essential) and a minimum of three years' experience in the legal profession
  • experience in identifying, planning and designing programs and events tailored to the needs of legal practitioners
  • an extensive base of contacts and networks within Queensland's legal profession
  • well-developed research and analytical skills, with the ability to identify key issues within the legal profession and relevant topics that are suitable for inclusion in QLS's learning and professional development programs
  • understanding of adult learning principles and practices with relevant qualifications in adult learning or training, such as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • strong commercial acumen and a demonstrated ability to develop positive, mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders
  • highly-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to negotiate, mediate, and influence others
  • demonstrated ability to manage a range of projects and tasks according to agreed timeframes and budget
  • ability to work collaboratively and to apply work practices that contribute to knowledge sharing
  • competence in the use of modern office technology
  • experience in personal injuries law, commercial law or succession law will be highly regarded.
